The Bloodstained Shadow: Part of Anchor Bay's GIALLO COLLECTION, which celebrates the often graphic Italian thrillers of the 1960s and 1970s, THE BLOODSTAINED SHADOW certainly contains enough sex and violence to qualify for that genre. In it, a college student named Stefano returns home from school to Venice in order to visit his brother, Don Paolo, who is a Catholic priest in a small Venetian town. Upon arrival, Stefano sees immediately that his brother is troubled and learns that the source of troubles are the seances being held at a local woman's house where some of the town's most unsavory characters congregate. Most vexing is a rich pedophile whose crimes go unpunished because of his wealth. However, Don Paolo's life becomes far more complicated after a murder in the town's square that eerily echoes one that happened many years ago signals that a new rash of murders has begun. Using the serpentine waterways of Venice as a backdrop, THE BLOODSTAINED SHADOW is an atmospheric and highly entertaining thriller. | |
